Type: Hydraulic fluid
Implementation Standards: GJB 1177-1991
+ 8 6 1 3 3 - 8 3 7 1 - 5 3 7 1
Use: Widely used in China military aircraft hydraulic systems.
Kunlun 15 hydraulitc fluid is developed and produced by Kunlun lubricants of PetroChina , most military aircraft hydraulic systems used this type fluid
Composition & Standards:
Formulated with refined petroleum distillates as the base oil, blended with polyester additives, antioxidants, anti-wear agents, antifoam agents, and Sudan Red (specific additive), presenting as a red transparent liquid. Complies with Chinese Military Standard GJB 1177A-2013 and U.S. Military Standard MIL-H-5606E, featuring independent intellectual property rights.
Temperature Range:
Operating Range: -55°C to 135°C (short-term tolerance up to 150°C). Exceptional low-temperature performance: pour point ≤-70°C; kinematic viscosity ≤2500 mm²/s at -54°C, ensuring smooth cold starts.
High-Temperature Stability: Oxidation stability >30 hours at 100°C; flash point ≥104°C; evaporation loss ≤8.72% (71°C test), maintaining viscosity stability under heat.
Viscosity-Temperature & Lubricity:
High viscosity index: 13.84 mm²/s at 40°C, ensuring stable flow across wide temperatures and reducing hydraulic system friction (four-ball wear diameter: 0.45 mm).
Extreme pressure (EP) additives provide PB value ≥600N in four-ball tests, ideal for high-load friction applications.
Contamination Resistance & Cleanliness:
Strict particle contamination control, surpassing cleanliness of older hydraulic fluids (e.g., No. 10), meeting requirements for precision aviation systems (e.g., flight control systems).
Copper strip corrosion rating: 1a; rubber swelling rate ≤5%, protecting seals and metal components.
Fire Safety:
Flame-retardant formulation delays fire spread, complying with aviation safety standards.
Environmental Adaptability:
Excellent water resistance (total water content ≤0.05%); air release time ≤3 minutes, preventing foam and cavitation.
Aviation:
Aircraft hydraulic systems (landing gear, flap control systems), sealed ball bearings, and precision instruments.
Replaces older domestic fluids (No. 10/12) and MIL-H-5606E fluids, compatible with Boeing, Airbus, and other aircraft.
Industrial & Special Equipment:
High-altitude/extreme-cold machinery, shipboard hydraulic systems, and laboratory setups.
Ground equipment: Heavy-duty truck braking systems, precision machine tool hydraulics.
Parameter | Value | Test Standard |
---|---|---|
Appearance | Red transparent liquid | Visual inspection |
Density (20°C) | 839.3 kg/m³ | GB/T 1884 |
Kinematic Viscosity (-54°C) | ≤2500 mm²/s | GB/T 265 |
Pour Point | ≤-70°C | GB/T 510 |
Flash Point (closed cup) | ≥104°C | GB/T 261 |
Acid Value | ≤0.098 mgKOH/g | GB/T 7304 |
Rubber Swelling (70°C, 24h) | ≤5% | SH/T 0436 |
Storage & Transport:
Store sealed in dry, ventilated areas (10°C–25°C); avoid sunlight. Shelf life: 3 years. Follow SH0164 regulations for transport.
Application:
Clean systems thoroughly before refilling; use dedicated tools to avoid contamination. Do not mix with other fluids (mineral/synthetic).
Annual fluid replacement recommended (shorter cycles under extreme conditions); replace filters and clean magnets.
Advantages:
Superior to MIL-H-5606E fluids: Better contamination control, lower pour point (-70°C vs. -60°C), and 60-70% cost of imports.
Outperforms older domestic fluids: 50% higher oxidation stability, service life >2000 hours.
Limitations:
Temperature ceiling (150°C) lower than full-synthetic fluids (e.g., Shell AeroShell Fluid 41, 200°C). Monitor performance degradation in high-heat conditions.
Synthetic Upgrades:
Potential shift to PAO or ester-based synthetics for higher temperature tolerance (target: 200°C continuous operation).
Eco-Friendly Development:
Reduce sulfur/phosphorus additives; develop biodegradable formulas to meet international regulations (e.g., ICAO CORSIA).
Kunlun No. 15 Aviation Hydraulic Fluid is a benchmark product for domestic high-performance hydraulic fluids, ideal for:
Precision aviation systems requiring cleanliness and broad temperature adaptability.
Extreme environments (high-altitude, polar regions).
Cost-sensitive scenarios (replacing imports while reducing maintenance costs).
Not Recommended For:
Ultra-high temperatures (>150°C) or prolonged heavy-load operations (use synthetic fluids).
Strong acid/alkali environments (custom corrosion-resistant formulas required).
Balancing technical excellence and market needs, Kunlun No. 15 exemplifies China’s advancements in high-performance hydraulic fluid technology.
