Type: lubricating oil
Implementation Standards: GB439-1990
+ 8 6 1 3 3 - 8 3 7 1 - 5 3 7 1
Use: F-7 fighter, Q-5 attacker and Hongdu K-8 ,also is widely used in Xian Y-7 & Shaanxi Y-8 transport aircraft
Kunlun Jet Oil 8A is developed and produced by PetroChina KunLun lubicant .This products special develpoed for turbo-jet engines
Base Oil: Synthetic hydrocarbon, similar to HP-8B but with earlier-generation formulations.
Temperature Range: -40°C to 150°C (narrower than HP-8B’s -50°C to 160°C), suitable for moderate operational demands.
Performance:
Adequate oxidation resistance and viscosity stability under standard conditions.
Lower high-temperature stability compared to HP-8B, with faster degradation above 160°C.
Strong rubber seal compatibility, making it ideal for systems requiring elastomer durability.
Original Use: Served as the primary lubricant for early Chinese military aircraft engines (e.g., J-5, J-6 fighters).
Current Role:
Transitioned to naval aviation (e.g., ship-based helicopters, maritime patrol aircraft) due to its superior sealing performance in humid, salt-rich environments.
Still used in older Air Force platforms where engine retrofitting to HP-8B is impractical.
Mixing: Occasionally blended with additives for specialized applications but less versatile than HP-8B.
Manufacturers: Produced by KunLun Lubricants and Shenyang Teli Petrochemical, though output has decreased since HP-8B’s adoption.
Packaging: Same as HP-8B (170kg/drum, compliant with GB 439-1990).
Military Preference: Naval units prioritize HP-8A for its seal protection, while the Air Force phases it out in favor of HP-8B.
